On August 11, 2026, ETEK representatives attended the scientific workshop “Research, Application, and Development Directions for Selected Products in the Mechanical Engineering and Automation Sector in Vietnam”, organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The workshop brought together representatives from units under the Ministry of Science and Technology, institutes, academies, universities, research centers, experts, scientists, and businesses. The event provided a platform for stakeholders to exchange perspectives on research priorities, technology application, product development, and stronger collaboration across Vietnam’s science, technology, education, and industrial sectors. ETEK was represented by Mr. Nguyễn Trọng Thưởng - General Director, Mr. Bùi Thanh Tuấn - Head of Training and Civil Project Implementation Department, and Mr. Lê Thanh Lâm - Head of Industrial Project Implementation Department.

Advancing Mechanical Engineering and Automation Through Practical Applications
One of the key topics discussed at the workshop was the future development of mechanical engineering and automation in Vietnam, particularly the identification of priority products, core technologies, and technological capabilities that should be strengthened in the coming years. From an enterprise perspective, ETEK emphasized that technology development should be closely connected to real industrial needs. Research and development activities should not stop at broad strategic orientations but should increasingly focus on specific challenges that can be tested, implemented, scaled up, and ultimately transformed into practical products and solutions.

During the workshop, Mr. Nguyễn Trọng Thưởng - General Director of ETEK shared practical insights from the business perspective, highlighting the importance of developing “packaged product” models while deepening and scaling up specific technological and industrial challenges. This approach can help narrow the gap between scientific research and market demand while improving the potential for research outcomes to be applied and commercialized.
Strengthening Government - Academia - Industry Collaboration
To translate research, technology development, and innovation objectives into practical results, ETEK highlighted the importance of stronger cooperation among Government - Academia - Industry. Within this collaboration model, government agencies can provide strategic direction and establish appropriate policy mechanisms, while universities and research institutes contribute research capabilities, technical expertise, and human resource development. Enterprises, meanwhile, bring real-world industrial challenges, implementation environments, market insights, and commercialization capabilities.

Based on its practical experience, ETEK proposed several areas for stronger collaboration, including:
- Research projects based on real industrial challenges and enterprise needs.
- Joint research and co-development of technologies and products.
- Commercialization of research and development outcomes.
- Pilot, sandbox, and demonstration programs at industrial sites.
- Support for the development of strategic and core technologies.
- Training and development of high-quality technical human resources.
- Shared laboratories, testbeds, and research infrastructure.
- Testing, validation, and certification support for new technologies and solutions.
Such collaboration can help create a more effective connection between research, training, technology development, and industrial application.
ETEK’s Roadmap Toward Technology Mastery
At the workshop, ETEK also shared its technology capability development roadmap, progressing from technology adoption and system integration to application mastery, core technology development, and ultimately the export of integrated solutions. ETEK is currently strengthening its capabilities in system integration and system mastery, while gradually expanding its expertise in industrial software, application development, engineering know-how, and core technologies. Key technology areas include industrial automation systems and solutions such as PLC, robotics, HMI, SCADA, machine vision, AGV/AMR, MES, WMS, IoT platforms, AI Vision, Fleet Management, Digital Twin, data analytics, and production optimization technologies. By combining advanced technologies from global partners with in-house engineering, system integration, software development, and application expertise, ETEK aims to increase the level of technology mastery and gradually develop solutions that are increasingly adapted to the specific requirements of Vietnamese industries.
Developing Made-in-Vietnam Technology Solutions
Strengthening domestic technological capabilities is an important step toward increasing the value created by Vietnamese enterprises. Rather than relying solely on imported equipment and technologies, businesses can gradually move higher in the technology value chain by mastering system integration, software, applications, processes, and eventually core technologies. For ETEK, this development journey follows a progressive model: Technology adoption → System integration → Application mastery → Core technology development → Solution export This roadmap supports ETEK’s long-term goal of developing more Made-in-Vietnam automation and industrial technology solutions that can meet domestic production requirements while gradually building competitiveness in international markets.
Contributing to the Development of Vietnam’s Mechanical Engineering and Automation Industry
The scientific workshop on “Research, Application, and Development Directions for Selected Products in the Mechanical Engineering and Automation Sector in Vietnam” provided an important opportunity for ETEK to share practical enterprise perspectives and contribute to discussions on the future development of Vietnam’s mechanical engineering and automation sector. Moving forward, ETEK looks forward to strengthening collaboration with government agencies, universities, research institutes, technology partners, and the business community to promote research, technology application, workforce development, and technology mastery. Through stronger cooperation among Government – Academia – Industry, ETEK aims to contribute to building a more connected innovation ecosystem, accelerating the development of practical industrial technologies and supporting the growth of Vietnam’s automation industry and Made-in-Vietnam technology solutions.
